VitalScan uses remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) to estimate your heart rate by analysing the micro colour variations of your facial skin caused by blood flow and captured by the webcam. Everything runs on your device with the POS (Plane-Orthogonal-to-Skin) algorithm, the same scientific principle behind solutions such as Anura or Binah.ai. It is not a medical device: when the signal is not clean enough, VitalScan says so instead of showing a made-up number.
